THE RED NIGHT and the days of colours
«The night, when the big evening parade takes place, is red» is noted by the photographer in the introduction. «And it is not red only because of the participants’ torches. It is red because red is the passion and the ecstasy you feel when you are among them. When you are placed in a position of struggling in order to preserve yourself on the surface of a river, which is full of flaming spears. When you are placed in a position of interlacing with a shouting crowd (and how unprecedented: a shouting but peaceful crowd!...) and moving in ecstatic rhythmical steps to a music, which comes from within you.
»The camera is always there to register, attached to the fingers, and the eye joined firmly to the viewfinder.
»In a moment, if you let yourself go, you feel that time passes differently. Not that time slows down or grows longer. Just differently. It looks like time cannot be measured with clearance or precision. It seems it has no stable dimension. More indefinite, more fluid...»
